I have a 90 celica 2.2 with a leaky distributor. I planned to rebuild myself but ran into a small, but hopefully minor problem. Is there an easy way to remove the pin that holds me from complete disassembly. I've tried a few things but didn't want to damage the distributor. I appreciate all comments.

Press it out.
I tried to hammer it, but it wouldn't come out. Since I had acess to a press, I just took the easy way out. I suggest you find a machine shop. They should have no problem pressing it out.

REMEMBER WHICH WAY THE KEY PIECE GOES. IF YOU DON'T, AND INSTALL IT BACKWARDS, YOUR ENGINE WON'T RUN....

Thx for the info. I went to work and used the maintenance shop. Rebuilt it in about 15 mins. Definitly recommend rebuild over buying a new 1.

Don't you just replace the oil seals/rings? I think I need to do that as well. I am trying to eliminate all my oil leaks. I heard that 3SGTES leak oil from the distributor quite often.

Anyone got a write up on that?

I bought a kit from Kbox online that cost around $20. It included the outer O ring, inner oil seal, inner bearing, new pin and distributor seal. I did read that these distributors are bad about wearing down and need rebuilt.

Though the above is for the 3SGTE, the procedure would be the same for your car.

In case anyone is isnterested, we currently have a sale on all distributor seal kits. http://www.kbox.ca/catalog/specials.php
