I have to replace my front right inner cv joint, and i was thinking of just replacing the axel, and getting a rebuilt one. Anyone have any suggestions or points to add?

Thanks

Don't forget to properly torque the axle lock nut and use some Loctite.

there isn't a locknut on a 5th gen. just a metal cover and cotterpin to hold that in place.

I just installed a new one in mine about an hour ago, well a remanufactured one anyway, $61.49 at Napa.

Yeah right :squint:
Without the axle lock nut, your CV axle would eventually pop out.

Oh. I thought you were saying there is an actual lock nut on there. With out that lock nut cover it tehnically isnt a lock nut. meh. w/e

well shit, neither of mine have the washer next to the "lock nut", whats gonna happen to me? HAHAHAHA.

Its just a nut, not a lock nut, if anything it technically should be a "castle nut", but since toyota uses those little cover things, it just becames a standard nut.

Lock nut / axel nut, ok; we all know what we're talking about now :)
