CAn anyone give me advice?

There is a 30 to 40 horsepower difference between the GT and GT-S. Odds are heavily in his favor. If you are a much better driver, you might have chance though.

yeah if you're a better driver 30-40HP is pretty easy from a stop.

SO do you think my intake and catback make a difference?

It did for engine response, noise and economy, but for power? No, you might have gained at the most 10Hp. More likely 5.

What upgrades can i do to make my celica faster without spending lots and lots of money?

None.

Speed = Money. Pure and simple.

There are many small grade modifications you can perform, such as a header, new exhaust (check,) new intake/induction (check,) suspension modifications and so forth. But once you break into the more power zone, the moeny is gonna have to follow suit. Many ppl have made turbo kits and there are supercharger kits available as well, but they are price prohibitive if you aren't wealthy in some cases.

In the end, create a bond with your car, learn to drive her to the best you are capable of, and then, if you get beat, just face it that the other car/driver combination was better. I drive an ST 5th Gen, one of the most underpowered Celicas ever. I have yet to be beat on the mountain roads where I grew up. I know Chaos' nuances that well.

What about a short shifter?

It will make your shifts faster by a split second, but again, it is not gonna make your car faster or more powerful. A short shifter just means your hand does not travel as far to engage the next gear.

and it will ruin the syncros in your transmission.

Now can you explain to me why it will ruin my syncros in the tranny, I would not like that to happen to my car, I have a short shifter but havent had time to install it

A short shifter is not going to ruin your synchros. I have no clue where anyone would get that idea. It is bullshit.

Is there anything that brought you to this conclusion that we can help clarify for you?

Chaos is factory rated at 103 horses. Figure in age and drivetrain loss along with modifications, I might be running 90 horses at the wheels. Probably more like 75-85. But it is about knowing how to use that power, staying in the powerband, and being fearless.

Power is a lot, but not everything. If we are talking drage racing though, power is everything.

Dude you will get smoked hard.

I used to have a 7th gen GT and every GTS I raced that was a 6 speed and a competant driver owned my ass.

if the GT-S is an automatic then you will smoke him!!!! otherwise get some juice or turbo...that the ONLY way you will beat him
