David

Yup.

It was very simple to do. I had to run 2 wires to the passengers door for the motor power and swap out the plugs. everything bolted in no problems. The mirror switch in the door is a mirror image of the north american one and as such is slightly different but it does fit.

If you need help just let me know.

Here is the fun part.. Mine is a ST with only aftermarket Power locks that I installed so, I will be wireing everything by my self :bigthumbu !
I guess if I get everything to work I will do a write up.

Japan. Duh :D

Probably easier for you to source on Ebay though. :saythat:

I still have yet to take on the wiring project, but I will attempt it in the spring. Its just too darn cold.....

Thanks for that insightful input, my friend. I hadn't thought of Japan or eBay yet :slap: . I guess the bust way to get them would be for me to snag them off of you at the next meet :hehe: . Come on... help a brother out! :arr:

Just make sure when you get them on Ebay that you get the full meal deal. You need the following:

1. JDM RH/LH folding mirror assy.
2. Mirror switch with retract button.
3. The elusive folding mirror relay.

A lot of the auctions don't include the relay. Shop cautiously.

Laterz, and good luck on Ebay or the Japaneese airline tickets.

There is a set for sale right now, but no relay!!! So I should pass, because the relay shown in David's link looks more substantial that a basic 5 pin relay. :ghey:

Here's the write up I did after doing mine
How 2 fit JDM self retracting door mirrors (http://www.yellowsun.plus.com/how2/retractmirror.html)
My car's a gen6 though, so I don't know how much is relevant.

Thanks a million, I think the wire codes were probably all I need.

Hi, new to the forums :)

I See that power folding mirrors are an option.. simple enough, tight streets in Japan :).

Anywho what I was wondering is today I was looking at the driver side kick panel fuse box and noticed a fuse on the box labeled, MIR HTR.. I assume that this stands for mirror defrosters.. Anyone have info on this? Thanks!

Yes, it was an option in some far far away lands (and possably for friends of the regional managers from Toyota!
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to just plug in a relay and make things like that work?!
PS welcome to the forum!

Thanks.. Now I just need to find out where this far far away land is because I want defrosting mirrors! I don't really care about power folding mirrors.. not all that useful.. however I'm sick of having snow or whatever build up on my mirrors.

Ok where is the original mirror control located in the 5th gen with power mirrors? I am stuck because I want to run only the wires I need, not all fresh...

Square 1.5" x 1.5" knock out just below the center arm rest lid, facing towards the dashboard. There are actually two knock out there. The other would have been for power lumbar and side bolsters.

oops, hit edit not reply...

You mean to control the mirror angle.. right? Not the power folding JDM setup..?

If you mean just to control the mirror angles there is no ECU for that.. the switch that goes in the center console does it all.. the motors are in the mirror.
