View Full Version : Special Socket for head removal

Well I am finally down to the last 8 bolts, the ones for the head, its a special bolt for these, anyone know if the local auto shops will sell the correct one, or will i have to go to a dealer and get the socket. Thanks Mike

Most head bolts are the regular 12-point bolts, so you need a 12-point socket for that. If you have something different, then I'd be surprised. Don't try to use a 6-point socket on a 12-point bolt because you'll just strip it.

Aight, ill give the 12pt a try tommorow, it just looks so different from the others. But i am being really careful, strip those and i am done

Yeah don't forget to take them off in the specific order. Dude if you take them off in the wrong order, you can possibly damage your head. According to haynes.
