I'm having problems staying in lift from 1-2, any suggestions?
Should I change tranny fluid?

Try slipping the clutch a little when shifting into 2nd. You still want to be shifting fast, but slip it just a bit and for only like half a second. Just enough to barely.

I have a 2000 and I redline 7800 if i mod it i can redline at 8200 but I don't have enough knowlege to do that on my only car, if it was my backup maybe :hehe:

all gts' redline at 7800rpm, however all but the 2002(and maybe 03's but i'm not sure) model year can rev up to 8200(past the redline of 7800) That is when the rev limiter kicks in.

Is your car automatic? If a 2000 6-speed gts doesn't rev past 7800 rpm when fully warmed up then something is wrong.

no I don't have an automatic when I hit 7800 my cylinders start to sputter so I can't?Is there something I'm missing?

I'm not sure what you mean by sputtering, does your RPM still climb past 7800 but there's odd hesitation or are you just not able to climb past 7800 with WOT?

It's like when I don't let the engine warm up in the morning and I can't redline past 6000 or so it kind of jums back and forth like it's trying but something is holding it back.

Well then it sounds like your rev-limiter is engaging at 7800rpm instead of the standard 8200 for every 2000 celica gts I have ever come across. I would assume that you purchased your car used, do you have any knowledge about whether or not it had ever received an ECU replacement or even a new engine by any chance? That rev-limiter is the main reason you are not successfully landing lift in your 1-2 shift. That's why people who own 02's change out their ECU's and knock sensors, to eliminate the 7800 limiter. I'd be willing to bet your car had some extensive warranty work done to it in the past. The only other thing I could think of is perhaps if your lift bolt had snapped and lift was no longer engaging, the rev limiter might get lowered down to 7800rpm(This is purely a guess, i'm not sure that would even occur with a broken lift bolt) However, you said you're having trouble staying in lift so I assume that you do enter it. Check into your car's history if possible

I did purchase my car used I'm pretty sure the ECU was never replaced and no new engine. I do enter lift it just stops at 7800 :(

So where can I get my ecu and knock sensors installed to fix my problem?

check what part number your ecu is.

only the 02's have the 7800 rev limiter. If you have a 2000 and you can only rev to 7800 then your needles might be off...Also Lift will not activate untill the car has warmed up to the second bar on the temp gauge. now its possible that your lift bolt is broken and lift isnt engaging and only the low speed cam runs you up to 7800...I would have to check out the car

I was driving the other day and I think my car must not have been warmed up fully because i can rev to 8200 my bad
