Ehh..........kind of lame since the car was running like dog poo but, had a friend with me Saturday and couldn't find anyone to race. So we went to the Interstate so he could feel the acceleration. Unfortunatly, I needed to change the plugs 'cause the engine was missing badly. But we had a little space where I could open her up a little, misfiring and everything. Video is kind of out of focus, but from my sig you can see that the marker straight up (12:00) is 80 mph and each major number after is 20 mph difference. I REALLY had to JAM the brakes on after reaching 160 though as we were closing FAST on some cars that were only going 65! Damn glad I invested in the big brake kit!

....

I wish my 0-60 speed was as fast as your 100-160 speed.

you should gps it.. since gauges tend to be off at higher speeds..

 I think my pants are wet. Does the stock alltrac tranny go up to those speeds or did you change the ratios?

How SURE are you that your speedometer is accurate? Are those aftermarket gauges from a decent brand? What about your tires? I would assume that your on some aftermarket rims?

Point being, just with the different rims im running, in combination with the current rubber, my speedometer is off by roughly 10 percent. Meaning, at 100, im really doing 110.

GPS?

It is stock. As you can see, I am well into the indicated redline. But with a fully built engine, the redline is quite a bit higher. With the cams I have now, peak power starts slowly falling off after 7,800, so I have fuel cut set there. So that is the top speed at present, given fuel cut.

he has speedhut guages... up to 160 they are identical to the stock guages... the 180 has just been added onto the end of the stock guage numbering

That is correct. And my wheels are not stock, they are 17" "ricey" wheels (so I am told by one person) that make the stock speedometer 3% slow by calculations. So the 175 indicated in my sig would actually be a little over 180 if accurate. As I don't have GPS and don't know anyone that does, I am taking a leap of faith that the speedo is pretty close to being accurate as I remember getting a speeding ticket a LONG time ago before I got the Valentine and it was for 110 in a 65 and that was how fast I was going at the time. Anyway......suffice it to say, it you are going an indicated 175 in my car, you are going fast! Anyone in Indy have GPS they will let me borrow to actually see?

nice stuff. .what mods do you have?

Engine fully built, blueprinted, balanced to withstand 650+ horsepower conservatively. Forged pistons and Eagle rods. Pro Performance upgraded headwork. HKS 264 degree cams, intake and exhaust. Pro Performance shimless bucket conversion on valvetrain. Absolute engine redline at 10,500 rpm. RMR intake manifold. Paul Rennison custom exhaust manifold. Wolfkatz fuel rail with 750 cc injectors. Adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Walbro 255 lph fuel pump. Paul Rennison's "world's largest FMIC" for All-Trac. (Measures 12" X 34-1/2" X 2-3/4") Autronic SMC ECU. Incon dual ball bearing GTB3037 turbo. (Basically a GT30 BB turbo in a GT25 housing) Tial wategate. Tial blow off valve. Aussie 3" downpipe and full exhaust. Exhaust manifold, downpipe, associated external wastegate piping Swain Tech performance coated. (http://www.swaintech.com/header.html) Autronic CDI ignition. Custom big brake kit (13" dual caliper rotors). Short shift kit. Full compliment of gauges including, engine coolant temperature, EGT, boost, oil pressure. HKS dual plate clutch and lightened flywheel. Whiteline front and rear swaybars. Oh yeah..........one thing I don't want to forget mentioning.........HKS EVC II boost controller about one month out of warranty and NOT working! AND, I cannot get anyone from HKS to call me back from tech support to trouble shoot it. Anybody know anything about them? Good thing I had the external wastegate spring set at 22 psi or else I would be driving a Slow-Trac. Guess I'll need to pony up some bux for a new boost controller. I would like to see what she would do with say.......30 psi or so? Probably a lot of stuff I have forgotten about though. Anyone have a suggestion on a new boost controller they would care to share with me?

So how did you have your stock guage recalibrated for that guage face? Because 80 is NOT directly top dead center on the stock guage, nor is 150 anywhere near where it should be on the stock face as compared to that guage face. I'm interested.. fill me in.. whats done to calibrate this speedo correctly for that face?

you have any pics of your car and your motor? it sounds like you have over 20grand into the motor alone.

all trac guage goes to 160 stock... that guage is correct.. no recalibration needed

GTS guage only goes to 150 i think

Well, it's pretty damn close! Look at InitialD93's pic. The gauges were puchased from Speedhut. They are the same as stock except that they continued on past 160 and added two more markers going to 180. They can be purchased here (http://www.speedhut.com/el_detail.asp?catagory=TOYOTA&auto_number=424&bhcp=1), should you like to look at them or buy some. There was a group buy on them about a year and a half ago. They are indiglo.

And by the way. they are exactly the same with the numbers in the same place as the stock ones. The only difference is the added 20 miles per hour.

sweet looking alltrac... any close ups of the engine bay tho? i couldnt find any on the site.

btw, what is the argument here? that a celica cant hit 150? i never tired it but ive seen many stock srt4s do it, and i know can beat those guys.

The only arguement here (really I think ist's a discussion) is that Lance feels that my gauges are not calibrated with the stock gauges and that the numbers are not in the same place as stock ones. But I beg to differ. If you compare my sig to InitialD93's pic, you can see that they are the same except for the extra 20 mph.

Ya.. I'm not arguing it, the video is proof itself.. was just curious as I am aware that by 140 mine is already off by about 7mph. REGARDLESS, its not THAT big of a calibration issue, so if its close enough to the stock numbers.. works for me. More power to ya - or.. enough power for ya?!? haha

yeah, i guess the only thing i would say is that if you go over 120mph, you would probably want to gps verify that, cause speedos are not alway 100% dead on. like clayton said.... who cares, thats one fast celica you got there and its great to see one go that speed. just be carfull, that type of speed is very dangerous. make sure your tires are up to it too

good job!

Tires are W rated, 168 mph. I changed the plugs last Sunday so it isn't missing now. If the weather is good this weekend, and traffic light, I may pick up my cameraman and get a new vid of an actual top speed run to fuel cut. Should that happen, I will post it here. Curious to see if the calcs given to me at this site (http://www.car-videos.com/tools/speedrpm.asp?Car=Select&Num1=215&Num2=40&Num3=17&AxleRatio=4.29&Ratio1=3.380&Ratio2=1.91&Ratio3=1.33&Ratio4=0.97&Ratio5=.73&Ratio6=&Ratio7=&Redline=7800&Increment=100&B1=Recalculate) are correct, which shows a top speed of 170 at redline, or if these numbers (http://www.car-videos.com/tools/speedrpm.asp?Car=Select&Num1=215&Num2=40&Num3=17&AxleRatio=3.93&Ratio1=3.58&Ratio2=2.05&Ratio3=1.33&Ratio4=0.97&Ratio5=.73&Ratio6=&Ratio7=&Redline=7800&Increment=100&B1=Recalculate) are the correct ones, which shows 185.5. Either way, if this website is accurate, it would mean my speedo is off by either +5 or -15 mph @ present programmed redline. But we all knew speedos are not 100% accurate anyway.

Hey Bill,

Rock steady. Seriously..........doesn't feel any different at an indicated 160 or 175 than it does at 100 or 120. The terrain just goes by a lot faster!
